Roger's Year in Music 2014: Meteorites, by Echo & the Bunnymen.

In order to work my way through my musical year, I'm starting early.

Say this for Echo & the Bunnymen: There is a consistent sound, album to album, in spite of the fact that like so many long-term bands, there have been different aggregations and eras. I wasn't a fan during the Liverpool band's original 1980s heyday, and only discovered it later, when singer Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant regrouped under the Bunnymen name, circa 2000. Perhaps their centrality explains the continuity.

The 2014 album isn't a go-to, and the songs have not proven to be earworms. However, there is a certain mood to it, and on occasions it scratches an itch.
