Explain this one, Rep. Clere.

It's not about jobs, and not about budgets. It's not about education, and not about property taxes.

Tell us, Rep. Clere: What's up with the Planned Parenthood smackdown?

You may use your truncated newspaper agitprop space if you wish. We know how much you dislike questions like these.

Thanks.

The 'Ville Voice:

Making you kinda proud to be a Kentuckian: Indiana is set to defund Planned Parenthood. [

"any entity that performs abortions or maintains or operates a facility where abortions are performed." Doctors preform abortions at every hospital if it is needed to save the life of a Mother. Pro-abortion, or anti-abortion. Doctors are bound by the hippocratic oath to help their patients, even if they’re pregnant. Is Rep. Eric Turner proposing we return to the Dark Ages and let women routinely die in child-birth? I do mean routinely. Should we deny the people who are least able to afford and care for children the same privilege the elite have ALWAYS had? And of course let’s frame this through the lens of job creation, since that is Republican Job One. Will our multi-national corporations now have an easier time recruiting and retaining employees in a state that is so backward as to deny contraception and abortion services to the poor? The only state in the union? Didn’t Indiana just smack a “Not Welcome” sign on it toward gay people?

Well, I’ll stop there, the list of negatives to this bill are endless. I could be up all night writing a rebuttal. Wow, what a fool I am. I’ve been thinking the whole time I’ve lived here - if there’s one thing New Albany needs more of - it’s contraception! For fun see how many poor teenage moms you can count on the streets of New Albany in a given day... it’s going to get a lot worse now.
